Invisible Bridges
CIVIL AND STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING
The preference for open span construction continues to grow. With column-free internal spaces and moveable walls, they offer flexibility and future proofing.
To bridge long spans efficiently, you need bridge-like structures. In this example, we used steel trusses to support a two storey building across a 12 metre span which, due to the restricted plot, had to fly over the main site entrance.
Of course, most road and rail bridges don’t have to accommodate windows. We did, which is why the main trusses are designed so their internal members clear the window frames.
