Making Your Own

MECHANICAL AND ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING

Generating your own low carbon energy on-site is becoming increasingly viable. So what are the choices?

‘Free’ energy is always worth investigating. For example, photovoltaic panels, solar thermal panels, ground coupled systems, and wind turbine or hydro-power generation all tap into natural sources.

Energy from renewable biofuels and biomass can be both economical and carbon neutral. CHP units generate heat and electricity in one process and can be scaled up to provide district or community heating.

Fuel cell technology offers another approach, generating heat and power without combustion or harmful emissions.
