One shortlisted for business award
30th July 2010
One Creative Environments Ltd has been shortlisted to win a prestigious business award in recognition of its achievements and excellence.
The Birmingham Post Business Awards 2010 recognises business success between April 2009 and March 2010, paying particular attention to innovation and creativity, scale and complexity of work commissioned, and sustained financial growth. One has been shortlisted to win the Creative Industry Award.
Being one of three businesses shortlisted for the Creative Industry award, One's submission detailed how it had survived and thrived during the recent worrisome economic climate, seeing persistent growth year on year in its turnover, staff numbers and project portfolio. As an integrated building and environmental design practice, housing a range of disciplines working together collaboratively, One had better understood its client needs, solved their problems, reduced their costs and gave clients exactly what they wanted. This approach had seen One deliver countless projects during the award timescale that far exceeded client expectations and allowed the business to strengthen its clients relationships, expand into new areas and win new business.
One is a Midlands success story, this was identified during a 5-hour award judging session of more than 100 entrants, the judging panel included the new head of the Birmingham Law Society Dean Purnell, leading economic commentator Professor David Bailey from Coventry University, and Birmingham's head of policy Kate Teasdale, the panel describing the shortlisted businesses as the "cream of the crop".
One's evolutionary building design business brings together the key skill sets of: Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Mechanical & Electrical Engineering - Building Services, Civil & Structural Engineering, Urban Design, Interior Design, and Cost & Project Management Services all under one roof. It is a national business, specialising in the sectors of urban regeneration, community, healthcare, education, transport, commercial, industrial, leisure, retail, secure, and energy, with contracts across the country. It has become a leading design specialist in its field, particularly within the Midlands, and has completed over one hundred projects within the region. 12 of these projects between April 2009 and March 2010 were for new buildings, nine of these reached tender stage and four achieved financial close with construction now on site.
Many of One's projects have had a direct effect on local area regeneration, and numerous awards have been won. One has also become an expert in leading edge, innovative energy efficient building design.
Winners of the Birmingham Post Business Awards 2010 will be announced during the Awards Gala Dinner taking place at the International Convention Centre on Monday September 20th, 2010.
