ONE Engage, our resident engagement platform, logo

ONE Engage

ONE Engage is an award-winning secure online platform specialising in resident engagement and digital information management.

Developed in response to the new Building Safety Act 2022, and co-funded by ONE Creative environments (ONE) and Innovate UK, the UK’s innovation agency, it provides the digital tools to connect residents, landlord safety teams and the Fire and Rescue Service (FRS), all in one place.

Landlords: Get peace of mind that you are complying with your legal obligations

Building Safety teams can use ONE Engage to help discharge their statutory duties and fulfil their legal responsibility to demonstrate they are engaging with residents, sharing the required information and measuring the success of their strategies. The platform allows the building safety team to be highly visible and effectively communicate safety related matters to residents.

Residents: Know your responsibilities, express your concerns and be heard

ONE Engage empowers the “residents’ voice”. Residents can report safety concerns, request safety information, gain access to important documentation and communicate assistance requirements they might have in an emergency evacuation situation to the landlord’s safety team, and to the Fire and Rescue Service, exactly when they need it.

Fire and Rescue Service: Access up-to-date safety information

We believe in “data for the public good”. Through ONE Engage, the FRS can access up-to-date safety information, for FREE, through a shared working environment and is available to the FRS at the point they need it to inform emergency response situations. ONE Engage avoids the FRS needing to “double-handle” and manage safety information, as this is undertaken centrally by the Responsible Persons.

Who should buy ONE Engage?

ONE Engage provides the ideal solution for any building owners looking to improve the way they manage building safety.  Under the new Fire Safety regime, “Responsible Persons” with “in-scope buildings” (ie. Higher-Risk Buildings (HRBs) 18m+ or 7 Stories + containing 2 or more residential dwellings) must comply with the legislation, ONE Engage has been created to help manage fire safety information in HRBs. This includes: housing associations for social housing, Local Authorities, private landlords, landlords of student accommodations – any Responsible Person as defined within the Building Safety Act 2022 will benefit from the use of ONE Engage.

Why is ONE Engage needed?

The Grenfell tragedy, Hackitt report, Building Safety Act (2022) and subsequent Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022 are placing additional obligations on duty-holders to ensure safety-critical assets remain compliant. Accountable and Responsible Persons must also put provisions in place to share information relating to the management of these key assets with residents and also Fire Authorities, digitally.

This is a significant challenge:

  • Legislation requires landlords share continually updated safety critical information with the FRS. There are 43 separate FRS in the UK, all with different procedures for managing / receiving information; and this also places a huge demand on FRS resources to process and manage this ongoing information from landlords. ONE Engage can provide an efficient, standardised approach that removes the resource burden from our public services.
  • An example Housing Association with 70 in-scope buildings (2,800 dwellings / 4,800 residents) will generate approximately 840 information exchanges with the FRS annually (eg. plans, live alerts), and circa 9930 individual safety-related exchanges with residents (eg. safety concerns, fire evacuation strategies). Tracking this information and demonstrating this to the Building Safety Regulator is a challenge; ONE Engage manages all of this within one simple platform.

ONE Engage is the first of its kind, with the ambition to become the National standard.  It provides a new tool to assist landlords in maintaining their “golden thread” for building safety.

Do I have to commit long term?

No – ONE Engage provides flexibility and has been designed to scale with the needs of the organisation, to ensure the product is cost effective and efficient.

When implementing ONE Engage, we recommend undertaking a BETA deployment phase to ensure the platform meets your needs and that staff and residents can be suitably trained and educated to get the best out of it.  The BETA phase lasts around 3 months, and is recommended to include a maximum of 2 to 3 buildings initially.  After this phase the product can either be rolled out, scaled and integrated, or cancelled if you are not fully satisfied.  Our technical team will be on hand to support deployment and assist your safety team to get the most out of the platform.
