Urban design is the shaping and making of our cities, towns, villages, streets and spaces.

Our Urban Design team love to create well considered, functional and vibrant environments. We are forward looking and strive to understand not just the current needs of an area, but also the evolving and future functional requirements of urban spaces.

We have successfully transformed underused and derelict sites into bustling places, re-establishing these them for people and turning these neglected areas into the heart of the community.

We help our clients to realise the full potential of their sites, make the most of any investment and support them to access funding or grants such as the Future High Street Fund.

Making places work better for people

We use a collaborative, multi-disciplinary process to look at a project from all angles to re-purpose spaces and environments.

Our team are adept at the art of place making by understanding the local context as well as the connections between people and the places they use and any associated infrastructure. ONE provides creative solutions and good design to achieve sustainable development that shapes the urban context and provides multi-functional environments.

A new vision for our town centres and High Streets

Transformative visions and creativity are required to future proof our town centres, High Streets and local economy.

ONE’s Urban Design team reimagines the use of spaces in our towns to ensure sustainable economic regeneration to deliver long term economic and productivity growth with a clear framework for successful change.

The team, however, understands the need for both long and short-term strategies and the many benefits of ‘meanwhile uses’ to breathe new life into an area, for example, The Bird Box in Bromsgrove has rejuvenated a disused part of the town prior to any future development.

The team can provide concept design, town centre strategies, wayfinding strategies, assist with business cases and investment portfolios and gain planning permission as supportive information to access the Future High Street Fund and other grants. They relish a challenge, so the team will explore ideas and adapt them to realise your vision and achieve a long-term sustainable solution.
